The alcoholic beverage industry in Québec has given itself a code of ethics: a charter of social responsibility chosen by the industry itself that goes beyond current laws and regulations.
The code, which is founded on clearly stated principles and values, covers packaging, commercial communications, marketing and communication targets, and commercial and promotional practices.
Compliance with the Code of Ethics of the Alcoholic Beverage Industry in Québec will be ensured by a five-member Ethics Council, chaired by Claude Béland. The Member of the Council are Madeleine Lapierre, Jacques Boucher, Yves Poirier and Audrey Quintane.
Anyone who wishes to may file a complaint with the Ethics Council who established rules of procedure that ensure transparency and equity in the handling of complaints. Complaint forms are easy to fill in. The Council wants to keep things as simple as possible and allow people to express themselves in their own words. Each complaint will be investigated carefully, and complainants will be kept informed regularly with regard to how things are progressing.
